Making Project Life Work For Me - Digitally

I have been playing around with a modified version of Project Life for my scrapbooks for a little while now, and thought I would share with you a bit of my experience.
When I first started it, I decided to buy several different page protector layouts and give it a try with prints and journal cards. I love it! It is so easy for me, and you can read about that here.

I had heard of people doing digital scrapbooking, and Digital Project Life, but didn't really think it would be my thing. Honestly, I didn't think I could get the hang of it.

Tie-Dye Day, round 2.

So you may remember we did a tie-dye day last week.
I didn't forget about the follow-up post ....

Finally, a craft project!!

And it's an easy one.

And a fairly cheap one, too. 

No sewing involved. Under $10. Takes about 1 hour each.

Necktie Baby Onesie (Tutorial)

Have you seen the baby onesies with the cute little neckties? 

Or the suspenders?

There are billions of cute, crafty things to make for little girls (bows, tutus, dresses, purses, dolls ....), but finding crafts for little guys is limited. I don't really know why. I guess plush tools don't serve much purpose to a little boy, so what else is there?

Pumpkins & Turkeys - Baby Food Jar Crafts

Have I mentioned we have an abundance of baby food jars?
Seriously.
But they are so cute, and useful.

So, here are two (yup, 2) crafts to make with them for the fall.

Yarn Wrapped Wreath

If you follow me on pinterest, you've probably seen all the pins I've been posting of wreaths.
Grapevine wreaths, holiday wreaths, yarn wreaths ....
I like wreaths, they are an easy decoration. Just switch one out for another as the seasons/holidays/weather changes. My kind of decorating. And, they are pretty easy to make.

I wanted something cute in my kitchen to hold some oil, and my vanilla. I never use vinegar when cooking. So I needed some oil and vanilla bottles. For some reason I had never bottle an oil bottle. 

Back To School Apple : A Baby Food Jar Project

If your house is like mine, with a 7 month old baby, you probably have about 90 billion baby food jars floating around. Especially if you're a hoarder saver like I am. They are useful little jars. 

I had seen a pin on pinterest using 3 baby food jars to make a snowman, which is perfect for winter - but it's only fall. So I decided to make something for fall. 

And, it would be a perfect back-to-school gift for a teacher. 

If you fill it with chocolate. 

Anyway, it's a rather simple project. 

Pick a jar, spray paint it red (or green, or yellow), once dry add a leaf and ribbon, then you're done. 

New Spring Wreath

In honor of spring, I made a new wreath for our front door. I actually found time to make something.

Glue gun, grapevine wreath and flowers.
(These are actually flowers leftover from my wedding)

And I added a tulle bow, just for fun.

Cinnamon Ornaments

I like Martha Stewart's 'recipe' for cinnamon dough the best.

I didn't have enough cinnamon, or any apple sauce - so I made my own version. Follow Martha's directions for the dough. They are much better than what I ended up with (mine have almost no cinnamon smell).

Mix together 1 cup cinnamon, 1/4 cup apple sauce, and 1/2 cup craft glue. Roll into a ball and let set about an hour. {Or, roll into ball, wrap in clear-wrap, and pop in the fridge for 15 mins. or so} Roll out dough and cut out shapes. Use a straw or skewer to place a hole in each ornament (so you can hang it up). You can let dry out over night, or place into the oven on 200 for about 2 hours (flip over at 1 hr).  Let cool, place ribbons through, and decorate.

Craft Land

I have been working on getting all of my craft stuff organized into one area, and getting things to where I can find and use them if I'd like to, so, here is my new craft land :

Now that's all fine and dandy, I can find everything, I know where things (sort of) are - except, there is one problem ...

Please ignore all the stuff in our messy basement. :)

You see, there are only 2 plugs on this half of the basement. 1 is by my washer & dryer, and is what I have a lamp plugged into for doing laundry, and where I plug in the iron when I need to. The other plug is next to the panel box, and is where I charge the batteries for the drill and such. Either way, both plugs are over there, and, not in craft land. Which makes it a little bit hard to sew, with the no power supply and what-not. So, I will have to resort to sewing at the dinning room table upstairs, I suppose.  This is semi-important because I have a sewing project to work on and get finished in the next few weeks. This is the material for it, already cut, waiting to be sewn. Any guesses??  (PS - It's not for us)

Tie-Dye Day - The Shirts

So, here is "part 2" of Tie-Dye Day - The Shirts.
These were really fun to make, although if we make them again, I'm going to allow 2 days for this (I'll explain why when we get there). This is a pretty easy project, and is good for pretty much any age group (with modifications - I did "spray-dyed shirts" with my summer care group of 5yr olds one time, and so did the pre-school teacher).

Crafting Hiatus

So, I am on a crafting hiatus.
Here are my crafting items :

 Our basement is still a total disaster zone. Stuff to unpack. Stuff to store. Needless to say, I won't be crafting anytime soon. At least, not any serious crafting. My sewing machine is still in its box, and, there aren't any plugs in the basement I can use anyway.


Also, there is a new blog for everyone to check out : The Letter 4 . One of hubby's friends from work told me to check it out, it's written by his wife and her sisters. There are tons of cute crafting ideas, recipes, printables, and more. So, you should go visit them.

Fabic Flowers

I found this tutorial for fabric flowers, and they are so adorably cute. So, I figured I would try it.

Here's what I did:

I can't wait to try the rest of them out, but my fav. so far is the Pomela one :) It's super easy to make as well. And, these are great for using up my felt scraps. However, I'm not sure what to do with them :-/ Ideas??
I would also like to share that I did these at 9:30 last night (post-Chuck time, as a cheer-me-up) and they turned out mighty nice for a night-time project. Also, hot glue really lives up to its hot name. So, be super careful when gluing everything together. (or, don't make them at night when you're half asleep)

Now, check out these super cute tutus ... I so want a baby girl to make tutus for!
