Necktie Baby Onesie (Tutorial)

Have you seen the baby onesies with the cute little neckties?
Or the suspenders?

There are billions of cute, crafty things to make for little girls (bows, tutus, dresses, purses, dolls ....), but finding crafts for little guys is limited. I don't really know why. I guess plush tools don't serve much purpose to a little boy, so what else is there?

After the Baked Chicken Dinner ...

So, I made that delicious baked chicken dinner a few weeks ago, and guess what happened the next morning?

Yeah, I went into labor (on my own) and had a baby 7 hours later. :)
Now, I'm not saying the dinner made this happen, but it was a pretty awesome "last meal".
(Compared to the baggie of dry cinnamon toast crunch I ate the next morning)
So my blogging will be sporadic over here for a bit, while we get settled in.

Baby Shower

Sorry I have been MIA.
I've been super busy getting things done around the house, this weekend was my baby shower, and I wanted everything to be clean and tidy. And, it was. I even hung up the handrail for the stairs, and the quilt rack in the baby's room. I'm quite the handy wife.

But, my baby shower was a lot of fun. Just a small group of family and friends, which was nice.
We ate, played the typical baby games, and I opened a ton of gifts for this spoiled little guy.
(Seriously, between Me & my husband (mainly me) going overboard,
and everyone else's nice gifts, this kid is pretty much set)
Then we had cake too. And I got to visit with people I don't get to see that often anymore.
We also got a living room full of balloons that are really annoying my husband.

A box of happiness

A box of happiness arrived today (finally)! It really doesn't take much to make me happy.

That's right - a box of maternity clothes, with a few baby socks in there too.
1 pair of jeans
6 shirts
3 pair of socks, for me
and 3 pair of socks for baby.

And - everything fits!
Yay! for Old Navy (everything, shipped, under $70).

It's a .... baby

Quick post - We had our 20 week ultrasound yesterday, and got to see our little one again, and got to find out the baby's gender. Yes, we wanted to know ahead of time. We are planners and like to be prepared. Plus, I think the baby's arrival will be surprise enough, I don't want too many surprises on one day (I'm not a surprise person).  So, luckily, we got a nice clear view of what we needed to see. Well, hubby could tell what he was seeing - I couldn't tell as well. I was focusing on the fact that the baby was using my bladder as a pillow, head-butting it as needed to get comfy, and trying not to go on the table. (I successfully made it to the bathroom, don't worry) We also got an estimated due date of January 16th.  We're pretty happy, and can't wait to meet our little one (after Christmas, I keep telling baby to wait until after Christmas to make it's debut).

ps - we don't think the bottom "eye" is an eye, it's an ear :)

What a bargain, baby!

Anyone who knows me knows I'm a bargain hunter.  I love a good bargain. I don't care if I'm saving 50 cents or $5.00, I just love saving money. { Are there people who don't like to save money? }  I coupon, I clearance shop, I "free ship" stuff from Amazon, I freecycle and craigslist shop, I yard sale, and I thrift shop. {Anyone who eats at our house knows having 'name-brand' food is kinda rare, must have been a serious sale and/or coupon}
Anywho - I would love to share all of my awesome bargains and brag about all the cheap stuff (and, maybe I will start, periodically) - but it's far too much of an undertaking for tonight. And I think people would get bored quick.

Now, as any of the like 10 readers I have know (or, should know), we are expecting our first baby this winter - so, a lot of my bargain hunting has been for baby gear. Specifically gender-neutral baby gear. Which tends to be a bit hard, everything is super girly, or very boyish, or gender-neutral, but still a bit boyish or boring.  Well, one of the gender-neutral items I can buy ahead of time is a baby bath tub. Simple enough, except there's only like a gillion to choose from. I mean, really. I had a few I was thinking about, but still, it's $20-$30+ for a plastic tub to put the baby in so they aren't sitting in the kitchen sink.

This is one of the tubs I was thinking about. They make it with and without the toy bar, but it's about $25 for the 1st one on Amazon, which could score me free shipping (which, I get anyway for being part of AmazonMom).  OK - so, here's the bargain :

I bought this tub, same as above tub, without the toy bar, for 99 cents. yup! $1.05 after tax. A little bleachy cleaner and clorox with some elbow grease, and it's as good as new.  I am quite happy with this bargain.
Although, my best bargain so far is getting our baby stroller for free.

Blogging to be blogging ...

I hope everyone's 4th of July went well. We had a fairly good day. But, the holiday is over and it's time to return to our normal lives. I have been working on keeping the house tidy, and slowly unpacking things. Getting the rooms organized, sorting through what needs to be put away, what need to be stored. Etc, etc, etc ... I have been making progress in the office, slowly, and trying to work on our 2nd bedroom.
This is what I've done in there (and, what the room will be used for) :

Any guesses? :)  Here - I'll show you the top shelf :

Yup!! Our little family is (finally) expanding. Our little blessing will be here in January, and we can't wait.
I'm excited to start working on the nursery and getting everything ready for him or her.  I just need to clean out the rest of the room now, to make way for all the baby stuff. And now, I need to go get a snack. We're hungry! :)
