Our 'Vacation'

What we do on vacation ...

This past week my husband was off for vacation. He creatively got 5 days off from work, by only using 4 vacation days, thanks to the mid-week holiday, and knowing him he probably worked extra the week before to reduce the number of hours he's taking even more. I don't try to keep track of his work schedule anymore.

We decided that we would use his week off work to spend time together as a family, and work on projects around our house. And maybe even take a day trip somewhere, just the 2 of us. Partly to enjoy sometime to ourselves, and partly because with the 100 degree heat, it's just not safe to take the baby out too much. Sounds like a great plan, right?
We spent the entire time working on stuff around here. And not even getting everything we hoped to accomplish done. We have a dry erase board on the side of the fridge with our household projects on it, we only made a dent in the list. Granted, some of the list is huge projects (*cough* remodel the bathrooms, or finish out the basement) but still, there are plenty of little piddly things on there. It took us 4 1/2 days to redo the front flower bed. 4.5 days. On a flower bed. Gah!

Our week got off to a slightly rocky start anyway. Since our area was hit by storms, some of our family was without power and staying with us {You can read that post here}. And it's a bit hard to tackle house projects with 10 people in your house. Everyone's power was back Monday evening, so that bumped our tackle projects start day to Tuesday.

Our projects to tackle :
Front flower beds & sidewalk
Front porch lights
Ceiling fans in the 2 bedrooms
Lower baby's crib
Pantry cabinet for the kitchen
Build a workbench for J
Replace kitchen sink faucet
Buy and replace living room mini-blinds

J and his dad were able to do the ceiling fans Monday night after a trip to Lowes, since they needed a new box in the ceiling in baby's room.

While we were at Lowes, we bought the stain and supplies for an upcoming project. We also bought a new mini-blind for our living room window (another project on our list).

We also got the joy of replacing our microwave Sunday, since I went to heat up my lunch, and it wouldn't work right.

And J had already lowered the baby's crib down one notch, so he wasn't sitting and looking over the rail anymore.

Now our list is:

Our projects to tackle :
Front flower beds & sidewalk
Front porch lights
Ceiling fans in the 2 bedrooms
Lower baby's crib
Pantry cabinet for the kitchen
