The 30 Day Challenge - Day 26

What popular notion do you think the world has most wrong?

I really can't think of anything that I think the world has wrong, that hasn't been discussed to death. Plus, since I am very conservative, there are lots of things I may view as 'wrong', that others have no problem with.

I do think there is something this country has wrong: the role of our government.
(And, I really don't know where to go from here, without it seeming like I'm rambling - sorry...)

Too many people seem to think our government is a bailout system for them. That they need to government to rule everyone and make their decisions for them. If the government doesn't support, approve, or endorse it, why should we the people?
Or government was not set up to bail out businesses. It was not created to give you food stamps. It's role is not to provide you with anything other than protection. To oversee the states, to provide a military to protect our land, to make basic laws and policies for the common good of all people.
The programs that were created and overseen by the government to try to help people who do need help are so badly abused by moochers that the families truly needing assistance have a hard time qualifying or getting what they truly need. Our government has also taken control of things in areas where it shouldn't be, and should let the private sector do it better.

People just don't seem to understand the real role of government anymore.
